How To Guide: Connecting to Wireless Network in the Classroom and on Campus
In order to connect to the wireless infrastructure please see steps below:
Using your portable/mobile device (laptop, smart phone, tablet etc) scan the wireless network for available connections.
Your device will pick up a network called VC (followed by campus prefix) STUDENT e.g. VCDW Student; this is the network you will want to connect to.
Once you click connect it will bring a box up asking for a pass key or security key. Each campus has a site specific password which may be obtained from the IT department on your campus.
NB: The passwords are case sensitive
Once the password is accepted you are CONNECTED to the wireless network.
To begin browsing the Internet, open your Internet browser.
You will be taken to a landing page requesting a username and password.
These credentials will be the same as the one’s you use to log into the computers on campus i.e. Student number: 12-123456 and then the password you would have chosen. If you do not have login credentials to logon to wireless, please contact the Campus IT department to request that an account be created on the student network for you, so that you may gain access to wireless Internet.
You should now be able to browse the Internet
Technical Support – Should you encounter any issues connecting to the wireless infrastructure, please contact your campus IT department and they will gladly assist you.
